Presentation Reflection

1. How did you feel about your presentation?
- I was worried and nervous because my presentation might be less than one minute long but when I stood in front of the class I felt confident because I could see my audience, which is my class. They support ed me and they helped me by listening and being a good audience for me. During my presentation, I started making mistakes but I didn't even stop because I felt anxious. Doing presentations in Esol is not the first time I have spoken in front of people. I also do presentations in another class, during each of those presentations I always feel nervous, because standing in front of everyone is a hard thing for me, but it doesn't stop me from doing it.

2. What did you do well?
-  The things that I did well in my presentation were speaking loud with the tone of my voice, hand gestures, and eye contact. If I do presentations, it doesn't matter what topic I am presenting but the most important thing in presenting a topic is speaking loud and also making eye contact, so people can understand what you talking about.

3. What would you improve next time?
- My presentation was not good. There are so many things I need to improve first, I need to speak slowly so I can achieve 2 minutes' time of my presentations. Next time I also need cue cards, so it will help me remember the things or the main words of my topic.

4. What was fun and what was challenging about the presentation?
- What was fun and challenging for me is speaking in front of people and also I learned an important lesson from other presenters that if you made a mistake, just keep on going because we can learn from our mistakes. Doing a presentation is very fun for me because that is the time when I am going to speak or share something important to other people.

5. What advice would you give to the current Year 10 students about having an enjoyable and successful year at school for Year 11 NCEA?
- My advice for year 10 is don't give up because we all feel confused and scared and if we stand in front of people and talk, we learn from it because if we grow up that our life. If you make a mistake don't be ashamed because we all make mistakes and also we learn from our mistakes.

English Introduction to connections

In this topic, we are doing questions about a film name Jojo Rabbit and differences between a child's perspective and an adult perspective.

Questions to answer when viewing/reading texts:

1. How does viewing this text through a child's perspective change the way we experience it? Explain using an example from the text.

- we can easily feel and look and there is some change of a child's perspective compared to old adults.

- an example that there is a difference between a child's perspective and an adult's perspective because Jojo had an imaginary friend which is other adults didn't know about it.

2. How would this text be different if it were told from the perspective of an adult? How would the audience’s experience be different?

- Adults will explain it deeper and they will put more information in it so can people understand it. The audience experience will be different because there is a lot different between a child's perspective and adult perspective.

3. Why did the filmmaker or author decide to tell this story from a child’s perspective?

- Because the audience will get a different kind of experience or emotion by watching a child acting and also the child will easily give the main message about what kind of movie or scene is it.

4. How are children represented in the text? How are adults represented in the text?

- Children are suffering and there were forced to learn how to fight against there enemies.

- Adults were the ones that teach children how to become strong and also do their own thing to keep them safe.

5. Does imagination help the young hero to cope? How so? Provide an example.

-No

Because Hitler was the one in Jojo's imaginary so Hitler was trying to tell Jojo to do what he was explaining to him but Jojo didn't do it because it makes the situation worse and Jojo was doing the right thing, not his imaginary friend's opinion.

6. Does this text connect in any other way to the other texts you have read/viewed? How so? Provide evidence and explain.

- Yes

There are other movies that the producer used children perspective as a main character or person that tell the main message of a movie for example Matilda

2002
I will always remember
The day you kissed my lips
Light as a feather
And it went just like this
No, it's never been better
Than the summer of 2002 (ooh)
Uh, we were only eleven
But acting like grown-ups
Like we are in the present

Drinking from plastic cups
Singing, "Love is forever and ever"
Well, I guess that was true
Dancing on the hood in the middle of the woods
On an old Mustang, where we sang
Songs with all our childhood friends
And it went like this, say
Oops, I got 99 problems singing bye, bye, bye
Hold up, if you wanna go and take a ride with me
Better hit me, baby, one more time, uh
Paint a picture for you and me
On the days when we were young, uh
Singing at the top of both our lungs
Now we're under the covers
Fast forward to eighteen

Halo
Remember those walls I built
Well, baby, they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make a sound
I found a way to let you win
But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now
It's like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you break it
It's the risk that I'm taking
I ain't never gonna shut you out
Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night
You're the only one that I want
Think I'm addicted to your light
I swore I'd never fall again
But this don't even feel like falling
Gravity can't forget
To pull me back to the ground again
Feels like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you break it
The risk that I'm taking
I'm never gonna shut you out
Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace

Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away

A news item that interests me

Corona-virus

Corona-viruses are a group of viruses that causes diseases in mammals and birds. In humans, the viruses cause respiratory infections which are typically mild, including the common cold; however rarer forms such as SARS, MERS and the novel corona-virus causing the current outbreak can be lethal. Corona-virus is not in my country and also in the Pacific but I care because we all have a family.

When I heard this news I was so worried because there are many people that waste their life because of this virus. Corona-virus start last year on December 3.The reason why I worried because it may spread to another country and make the disease more infectious. Most Asians people were affected by this virus, and it makes me sad because it also destroying the connection inside of families and it makes other people suffered and helpless.

This virus has killed more than 360 people, so most countries were sent money to countries that affected by this virus and also doctors and nurses. The doctors were so hard to leave their family and went to Asia to help cure this virus because it is so dangerous and is hard to cure. I found scripture on google during my research and it says "As the world's second-largest economy rushes to contain the deadly corona-virus which has killed more than 360 people, what effects will it have on some of New Zealand's key industries." The impact of corona-virus in the whole world is making people suffered and it cost a lot of money for helping patients.

The news item makes me think about my country and also my family because it is so hard to say goodbye to your loved ones. As you can see it makes me so scared and the world needs to help each other and do not discriminate. Two-person has also died outside of China - a 44-year-old man in the Philippines who was a resident of Wuhan and a 39 years old man. From now on corona-virus is still spread around the world.
